Welcome
"This is the greatest superhero in the Dark Horse universe!"
"This book is truly one of the funniest I've read ever."

This is the official website for The Helm.
Of course, we wanted to get www.thehelm.com, but that site was taken by a cruise line, so here we are. And apparently you found us! Good work!
Praise for The Helm issue #3!!
Yay, The Helm! At long last, another issue! This book is taking a pretty interesting turn. This issue had its funny moments, but it also had some pretty disturbing moments, too. I'm really fascinated to see where things go in the last issue.
In the last two issues we got some origin and some laughs, but this issue we kick it up as The Helm (worn by our favorite character ever–Matthew Blurdy aka The Valhalladrim) leads Matt into battle against a fearsome necromancer in an alleyway! …Craziness and fun in this issue. Mini-series or not, I can’t wait for the next issue. For serious. Pretty wholesome comic if you ask me.
Praise for The Helm issue #2!!
"Jim Hardison is writing this series and writing it well. Filled with action, humor, and fantasy - it leaves little to want. The relationship between Matt and the Helm is probably one of the best love-hate relationships I’ve read..."
"...a solidly entertaining, seriously funny, comedic fantasy adventure... This book is a wonderful combination of fantasy adventure, comedy, and modern day romance... I recommend that everybody start collecting The Helm ASAP! You won't regret it. "
"I like the message here of a magical helmet transforming an overweight nerd into a warrior chick magnet. Jim Hardison (W) isn't resorting to a "bippity-boppity-boo bink tap on the head and you're ripped like an Olympic gymnast" change. Nope, our hero to be Matthew is doing it the old fashioned way with diet and exercise. That's a fresh mix of fantasy and reality."
Praise for The Helm issue #1!!
"A GOOD little comic book. I think it is peaches!
Bart Sears is the artist, that toe-tapping favorite Dave Land is the editor, as I said--a Dark Horse Comic--and its existence will not change the course of mighty rivers, nor will it alleviate starvation in parched and piteous nations. But in this world of more dark than light, most of the time, this li'l item made me happy. I laughed, I cried, I winced, I waltzed, it became a part of me!
Go thee, and do likewise. Further, deponent sayeth not."
"Simply put: this book is hilarious… This is one of the few times a comic book made me laugh out loud as I read it—highly recommended."
"The Helm is funny. Both the book and the titular piece of haberdashery produce some flat out belly laughs."
"I've read the whole thing and it's spectacular folks, I can't wait for #2 to come out! I just can't recommend it enough!"

"Mathew Blurdy's new helmet is not cursed or evil. It just doesn't like him... That's the premise behind Jim Hardison's hilarious new comic from Dark Horse. Blurdy, the 30 year-old who works in a video store and lives with his mother, is The Helm's straight man as it constantly barbs and berates the hapless loser…"
"It’s really funny and witty... Can you imagine if Mjolnir hated Thor? Well this book covers that dynamic with the protagonist, Matt Blurdy, and his magical Viking helmet, the Helm. I haven’t laughed out loud with a comic in a while."

The Helm is an ironic spin on the "destiny" genre that teams veteran artist Bart Sears with comics newcomer Jim Hardison.
