After tumbling into a chasm littered with bones (which reminded me mightily of the horrible vale of Pnoth) and crawling our way along the bottom, we emerged into unbearable heat and a dim reddish glow. As we tried to ascertain our whereabouts, this creature jumped us. He stood about five feet tall, was thin, rubbery and completely hairless. He leapt out of concealment and attacked us with tooth and claw. Despite his furious onslaught, I blasted him with psionic power and Mathew ran him through with Brisingr. He then set the fiend alight with the blade's magic flames. The foul denizen of the darkness burned readily enough and was soon reduced to a crispy cinder. The dying flare of his burning body was, however, reflected back to us in the eyes of a score of his vile comrades. Mathew menaced them and they fled into steaming lava tubes.
